#MyMondaine
Jane Foster
Hello! I’m Jane, an illustrator, artist, and author in the UK. I spend most of my time creatively in my home studio, illustrating children’s books, designing, painting, and making printmaking. I love '60s architecture and Scandinavian design. I collect vintage children’s books purely for the illustrations and have a collection of mid-century fabrics.
I live near the sea and love going for coastal walks with my family at the weekend before going for coffee and cake.

What inspires you when painting?
I’m often inspired by Scandinavian design, vintage fabrics and '60s illustrations. I like the challenge of keeping a bold, flat colour and a neat line. I also love painting in monochrome, but sometimes add a pop of red.

What makes you proud to wear a MONDAINE watch?
My late Father always wore a MONDAINE watch with a red strap, one of the precious items handed down to me. My MONDAINE watch is very similar in style and makes me think of my Dad whenever I wear it. He was such a wonderful, attentive, caring Dad who always had time for me. He loved listening to me play the violin and piano and was the person who said I could sell my art one day. He is the inspiration behind everything I do, and wearing my watch reminds me of his belief in me.

What key principles do you follow in life?
I live a simple and structured life, with time for daily creativity. I’m happiest when I’m working and very rarely take time off.
I care deeply about our world and aim to make eco-friendly decisions whenever possible. Creativity is everything to me, and I’m genuinely grateful that I have the opportunity to be creative every day.
