#MyMondaine
Alessio Autiello
My name is Alessio, I’m a physiotherapist and I originally come from Sant’Antioco, a little gorgeous island set in the southern part of Sardinia, Italy. I moved to Switzerland 2 years ago in order to spend more time nearby the mountains and discover new landscapes. I’m passionate about photography and the outdoors, I really enjoy hiking in the mountains and climbing.
What makes you proud to wear a MONDAINE watch?
Mondaine was the first watch I bought shortly before my Erasmus to Poland during my university period. Before then, I had never owned a watch and was looking for a timepiece that could be minimalist, but at the same time iconic and elegant. Years later, I still wear it with pride and it seems to have passed the test of time with flying colours. The red pointer is undoubtedly the feature that fascinates and is immediately noticed by those who are not yet familiar with the brand.
What time do you cherish most?
Time spent outdoors during the weekend is definitely what I value most, especially together with people I care about. Walking or doing activities in the mountains gives me a way to think calmly and somehow relieve the stress that accumulates during the week. During the long walks, I find that I can slow down and really appreciate where I am and who’s walking besides me.
Who in your life inspires you?
I try to take inspiration from everything around me, especially the interactions and dialogues with people that happen on a daily basis. I am of the opinion that with the right eye, even the smallest events can provide food for thought and inspiration: the resilience of a thousand-year-old tree, the play of light and shadow during the day, the meeting between two people who have not seen each other for a long time. I get mesmerized when I think about how the world around me stands the test of time.
Think about the time you have dedicated to your own hobbies, growth, or loved ones — How would you describe the impact that has had on you?
One of my main hobbies is photography. I am not a person who takes photographs on a daily basis, but it has always been a part of me that I believe characterizes me, it has taught me to look at the world from a different perspective and shed light on the details of everyday life (although details are not my favorite photography subject). The time I dedicate to my passions, my loved ones, and myself, is always time that gives me the opportunity to discover new parts of me and who I am.
